PENCILS

Who would have thought that the humble pencil, which we first held as a mere toddler, could have so much versatility!

Nothing can beat this medium when it comes to controlling the strokes.

With a good set of colour pencils, we can create stunning art works!

An everyday object, the peppers in this “Colour and Spice” provided a perfect theme to experiment with pencils.

As the colours do not blend by themselves like in other mediums, pencils help create sharp defined edges which makes for a nice three dimensional effect.

This is an intricate depiction of a temple deity done from a photograph.

I used the techniques of ‘layering’ and ‘burnishing’ – unique to pencil art – to create a photo-realistic image.

It is amazing to see how the shades of white and grey create a silver metallic effect.
