OILS
Oils are truly masterpiece mediums and are typically done on canvas. They have great texture and last for eternity.
As they take longer to dry, oils allow for mixing the colours on the canvas itself for as long as necessary to bring out the desired effect.
A reproduction of a renowned artist’s work, this portrait piqued my interest due to the subtle play of the light on the lady’s face.
Bringing out the soft pleats and folds of the fabric was a truly enjoyable experience.
This study of blue macaws set against an orange background is an example of the dynamism of oils.
The dense pigments of oils allowed for the shades of red and orange to blend smoothly, offsetting the macaws in the foreground.
