ACRYLICS

Though water-based, acrylics dry instantly and become water-resistant.

Also, the pigments are bright and the result is a vivid art-work, similar to oils.

In short, they give the best of both water colour and oil mediums – thin as water colour yet opaque as oils.

In this depiction of an African sunset, the warmth and glow of the distant sun can be felt in the foggy horizon in the background.

The focus then shifts to the close-up silhouettes of the giraffes beside the tree.

Acrylics was the perfect medium to achieve the two effects.

This rendition of a jacaranda tree by the river bank has a soothing effect on the viewer.

The ‘glazing’ technique helped blend the colours well to create the sheen of the water.

The purple jacaranda blooms complement the blue waters very well.
